Artist Showcase:

Be sure to see the Artist Showcase, located just inside the show entrance. The Showcase provides a brief, enticing introduction to the hundreds of fine crafts to be found in the booths at Inland Crafts. The artist’s name & booth # will be placed by the work. If you wish to buy a piece from the Showcase, the work will be carried by the Showcase manager or an Inland Crafts volunteer to that artist’s booth. The artist will complete the sale. The Showcase will have Inland Crafts volunteers providing information and samples at the Showcase will be changed periodically. Not all artists work can be shown at once.

Congratulations 2010 Artist Merit Award Winners!

2010 winners of the artist merit awards include: Sharon Berube, Andrew Carson, Lauri Chambers, Cheryl DeGroot, Peter Jagoda, Robert Jones, Shelley Roberts, and Julie Shumaker. Visit their individual artist pages starting from our “Participating Artist” page. We thank our juror, Carolyn Stephens and our merit award sponsors: Kolva-Sullivan Gallery, Macaulay & Associates, Round & Round Productions, Spokane Jewellers Guild and Tinman Gallery.

We acknowledge Spokane Rotary 21 for grant money to begin this merit program in 2009. Our invited juror, Jeanette Kirishian, selected the following artists to receive $100.00 merit awards: Larry Richmond, Dan Lachassee, Jason Rounds, Craig Windom, Dorothy Skea, Andrew Carson, Margaret Regan, Amy Davis, and Kathryn Cohoe.

2009 was the inauguration of a merit award system to recognize exceptional work by artist participating in Inland Crafts. Nine artists were selected to receive $100 each. Inland Crafts is proud to have adopted this appropriate recognition for professional contemporary craft artists. A description of the system follows:

Juror profile: An appropriate professional from this region such as: a gallery or museum curator/or an established elder artist-collector. The juror will identify work that is particularly exciting in texture and color for its medium, with well executed technique and especially captivating design. The overall body of work must be presented in an effective or innovative manner; well lighted and compelling to the viewer. The decisions of the juror are personal and final. Up to 9 awards may be presented, but the juror is free to select fewer. The awards are not necessarily distributed by media. Board members are not eligible for awards.
